Long delayed assignment (tag ni Tito KU)

Kung teacher ko si Tito KU, siguradong bagsak na ako kasi non-compliance with class requirements itong ginawa ko. Hindi ko agad ginawa ang kanyang assignment na binigay, way back 17 October. Sorry talaga Tito KU ha? So heto na…huli man daw at magaling, naihahabol din (hingal…hingal).

Is It Really Bad to Stare?
Tulad din ni Tito KU, depende sa klase ng titig at sitwasyon.  Halimbawa, yung titig na tulad ng sa Auntie ko – titig na nagdidisiplina. Yun yung titig

Its bad to stare at other people”?

Do You Have a Favorite Song?
Nakupow! Andami kong peboritong kanta, depende sa mood at sa sitwasyon. Sa ngayon, palagi kong pinapakinggan (aka flavour of the month)
ang kantang Boulevard of Broken Dreams ng Green Day. Meron din naman akong all time favourites pero masyadong generic – tulad ng mga kanta nina James Taylor, The Sundays at Merril Bainbridge.

That's it pancit. Thank you. Bow. Ano kaya grade ko Tito KU?

K, will pass this queston on to Alvin (kamag-anak na sing-smart ko- teehee), Sil (ansipag kse magpost ng entry sa kanyang blog) at kay Dongskie (my peborit kumpadreskie – aherrmm…Merry Christmas my friend hehehe).

Let's talk about... baked beans and toot: Part 2

I heard this hilarious song over the radio today. Reminded me of my first ever blog entry teeheehee :o) Song's title: I Farted on Santa's Lap.

Mom made beans for dinner
you know I ate em all
said come get your coat on
goin’ to the mall
gonna visit santa
and sit upon his knee
but all that I could think about
was how not to cut the cheese
waiting there for Santa
thought that I’ll explode
the gas bubble grew bigger
with every ho ho ho
try my best to hide that I was doing swell
but when I sat down on Santa’s lap he hollered what’s that smell !

I farted on Santa's lap
now Christmas is gonna stink for me
I farted on Santa's lap
now ill get &*&*&*& under my Christmas tree

I asked him for a baseball
I asked him for a bat
I asked him for some ice skates
but I'll get none of that
I asked him for a lot of things
I'll have to do without
when i sat down on Santa's lap
I let one slip out

I farted on Santa's lap
now Christmas is gonna stink for me
I farted on Santa's lap
now ill get &*&*&*& under my Christmas tree

On Christmas eve I snuck out
of my bed without a sound
went down to the living room to take a look around
and then I saw Santa next to the Christmas tree
his arms were full of presents and they were all for me
put them in a pile got up to turn around
then blew a fart with such great force our tree all most
so I'll always cherish that special moment when
I realized even old Saint Nick rips one now and then

I farted on Santa's lap
now Christmas is gonna stink for me
I farted on Santa's lap
now ill get &*&*&*& under my Christmas tree

Santa

A Picture of Contrast

Intellectually handicapped brother and I went out over the week-end to watch Santa Parades along the suburbs. Am not a big fun of these parades but he is - reckon it has something to do with the lolly scramble. Any-hoo I was really surprised with the huge turn out of crowd in our suburb this year. Good thing we were early and got a good spot in the queue while waiting for Santa.

We waited for almost an hour and when the parade started, there was this elderly lady with a grandchild who suddenly cut the line and stood right in front of my brother. Wasn't a big deal because brother is taller than the lady but she was blocking the view of other smaller children. So  I tactfully told her that she's obstructing people's view. She just looked at me with a raised eyebrow.  OKEY. SHE. IS. RUDE. To make things worse, she was the one who always gets the upper hand everytime there's a lolly scramble.

Suddenly, there was another lady, about the same age as that of the rude woman, who stood beside her. The lovely lady told her off - how rude she is, blocking other people's view, particularly that of an intellectually handicapped child (although my brother's not a child anymore).  Not only did this lovely lady told her off - I was truly surprised how she decisively grabbed two handfuls of thrown lollies and handed over the whole lot to my brother. She then quickly left and I don't even think she heard us say our thanks. Needless to say, my brother had this huge smile on his face the whole day while eating his lollies ;-)

Really wish that the lovely lady and her family a very happy Christmas. I truly believe that for every insensitive person there is always another person with empathy to another human being .

And one more thing - what goes around, comes around.

Hark Back to Past

Was clearing up clatters on my workstation at home and saw some scanned photos in old CDs.  As I've told my friend/officemate C the other day, its funny how we forget things that just took place a few minutes ago or a few days ago, much more, years ago. But photos do help us remember the smallest details that happened during the photo shoot and succeeding events related to it.

These photographs stir up memories of friends, songs, hairstyles and styles of eyewears (teehee!).

Speaking of which...paging Pam!Waiting for our pa-bagets na photos ;-)

Kapoy

Whew! Its been awhile since my last entry (sowee Tito KU - IOU big time!). Been terribly terribly busy with work, friends, family & of course, summer escapades! Even got sick due to change of season. But never mind - all's good (so far). Looking forward to Xmas holidays at South Is :-)

Daylight Savings Time started today and I felt I was robbed of an hour of sleep. It will be a bit difficult on Monday morning (so help me God!). Need to make sure that all my alarm clocks (have 3) are properly wound up.

But never mind, its a harbinger of a lovely thing to come: summertime!

And oh by the way...people who work on a night shift are lucky (just don't mind the super duper puffy eyebags though hehehe). They worked an hour less but still got paid for it. Lucky you Dong!

------------

More_sleep_1 I object to being told that I am saving daylight when my reason tells me that I am doing nothing of the kind... At the back of the Daylight Saving scheme, I detect the bony, blue-fingered hand of Puritanism, eager to push people into bed earlier, and get them up earlier, to make them healthy, wealthy, and wise in spite of themselves.

Sad

Miss him. So much.

I saw a couple of Eastern Rosellas perched on a tree outside my office. That made me stop working and stared at them for quite a while. They reminded me so much of Koko who was a hand-reared rainbow lorikeet  pet . They also reminded me of how much I miss him. You see, he passed away last January.

Truth to tell, am not much of bird person - never thought of having one as my "own" pet even though my  mom used to have an aviary full of budgies. Thought am a cat/dog person. That changed when Koko came.

Originally, it was my sister who was the only one that was very keen to have a bird as a pet. I only agreed to have one when I saw how smart Koko was. And since we share responsibilities for his well-being, I later found myself attached to Koko in my own unique way. I have to admit though that he's more "emotionally" attached to my sister. That's why she was more gutted than I am when we lost him.

It's amazing though how he was able to show his affection to each of us in different ways. Koko usually says "hello" to me when I get back from work. He also have this cutie-cutie voice that says "pretty bird Koko" whenever he wants something from me. But with my sister, he was over the top. He goes ballistics - just like a dog. He starts "wagging" his tail, screeches and "dances"  around once he heard my sister's car. He will then fly to her shoulder the very moment she enters the room and rubs his head on her cheek and make this "cooing" sound. I sometimes think that Koko's head over heels in love with her!

Needless to say, his antics and naughtiness are a legend. He "rings" like a phone whenever we have friends around. Our unsuspecting visitors will then stop talking and advise us to answer the non-existent phone. By the way, he had three different "ring tones" that can ascend/descend in pitch and can change from soft to loud, beat that! Sometimes, he shouts at our guests and  tells them to "shut up!" Or just laughs at them in an insane way - somehing similar to the canned laughter used for telly shows. And oh, how well he teased our neighbour's cat! I wonder what that cat felt everytime he got a wolf-whistle from Koko. Ha ha ha!

Enough said, there are lot of things that remind me of him, just like the Rosellas that I saw this morning. But the most palpable reminder of Koko is the unwanted silence that greets us upon entering our house. Sigh.

Do miss you but fly free, Koko. We'll have a chat in bird heaven someday.

In memory of him you've loved; be thankful; do not grieve.
Cherish every moment of
your feathered charge.
He filled your home with songs of joy the time he was alive.
Let not his passing take from you
those memories to enjoy.

Brrrrrrrrr...

A bit of setback to the lovely start of spring.

Nasty weather this week - hail (2x last night and once this am), rain  and strong wind! There's even snow in some parts of NZ (how's your place Mrs CG?). Just when I thought that  things are starting to get better - people starting to do their spring cleaning & hiding away winter clothes. Now, its back to turtle necks, scarves, boots, brolly & wooly jumpers - arrgghhhh!

Do hope this won't last long.

Those green thingies that sing...

Of late, heard songs that are quite unusual and quirky. I have a broad repertoire when it comes with my taste to music but I really don't know how to explain my feelings towards these songs. Mere curiosity? Fleeting fancy? Worse...morbid fascination? Can't put my finger on it but sure can't get those bloody tunes out of my head!

Try listening to these songs. You'll know what I mean:

1. Schnappi Song: German song about a little crocodile sung by a 4 year old girl. Was such a big hit in UK and other parts of Europe and they can't explain until now how and why it became one.

2. Crazy frog Axel F: It all started out with a guy trying to imitate the sound of a moped engine.

Wouldn't it be annoyingly funny (sorry, don't know if these combined adjectives do exist) if the Schnappi girl and the froggy guy collaborate to come up with a "Schnappi Froggy" song and a video? It's going to be about this baby crocodile who gobbled up a frog that wears a helmet and a goggle (eeewwww!).

On a hindsight, reckon my feeling towards these songs is similar to how I felt when I heard the song Who Let the Dogs Out. I do hate that song and it irritates me to kingdom come but I always find myself singing along with it: woof, woof.... woof- woof!

Aha!  Now I know how to describe these songs - "strangely compelling".
^^^^^^^^^^

PS: Kermit the Frog should put his act together - he's being upstaged by these two green thingies.
